The Pod

This is Tina Renfrey's inspiration to create a space of energy healing, balance and rejuvenation. Treatment options that are available by appointment, include Bowen Therapy and Sound Relaxation Therapy. Tina also opens The Pod for group Sound Soak experiences.

What is Bowen Therapy

The original technique of Bowen Therapy was developed by Tom Bowen (1916-1982) in Geelong, Australia. Bowen Therapy is a series of gentle moves on the muscle and connective tissue (or fascia) along the whole body, using the therapist's thumb and fingers. Bowen is not a massage; oils are not used so it can be performed through light clothing. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and the treatment is very gentle and relaxing, taking about an hour to complete. Bowen Therapy is safe to use on people of all ages, from babies to the elderly.

Bowen Therapy works by increasing circulation to the muscles and improving the efficiency of the lymphatic system. Bowen balances, stimulates and allows your body to heal itself as it was designed to do. The fascia is a double layer of connective tissue surrounding all of the muscle bellies and organs of the body. In between the two layers of fascia is normally a small amount of fluid. Bowen Therapy stretches this fascia, helping it to rehydrate. It also resets the length of muscle stretch, deactivates trigger points and stimulates the body to release endorphins ( the bodies natural pain killers). This whole process releases toxins from the soft tissue so it is important to drink a lot of water following the treatment to help flush these toxins from the body.

Tina Renfrey

I have worked for over 30 years in the medical profession as a radiographer and ultrasonographer and so when  I began training in Bowen Therapy in 2002 I already had a vast knowledge of the body, its systems and the dynamics of injury and disease. An interest and subsequent training in Smart Bowen Therapy began with my own personal journey of recovery from injury. I have a keen interest in helping people return to optimal health using Bowen and believe in approaching the healing journey in a holistic manner. Registered with the Bowen Therapist Federation of Australia (BTFA), I am often attending conferences and tutorials to expand my knowledge as well as speaking at national conferences to share what I learn with other therapists.I have recently completed training in the Peter Hess method of Sound Massage, where sound bowls are placed on the body to use sound resonance to bring the body into deep relaxation. This is now on offer as a treatment to clients and is available to book via the book appointment tab.

REVIEWS

What clients of The Pod have said about their experience

I walked in with an ongoing shoulder issue and walked about feeling a huge shift. My whole body felt more open and free. I have already recommended Tina and Bowen Therapy to 3 friends and will be booking in regular because it has made such a difference.

*****This was not the first time (or the second time) that Tina has not only found my issue but then set to work in fixing me up. The Pod is my go to whenever I am stressed, tense, have an ongoing issue I can't fix etc. Really wonderful to have such an amazing person in my corner when it comes to my health. Yaye!

Amber

Musician

This was first time using Bowen Therapy. Given my many injuries and surgeries, living in pain was my norm. I was sceptical that I would get much improvement. How wrong I was. I've been pain free since the treatment. Thank you Tina.
